To answer the question , one must understand the background. The Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo is once a dominant kingdom parallel to China during 1300 and 14oo AD . Europe quest for power expand their colonization . Spain saw the weak govermental structure of the kingdom under the rule of the Sultan. They succeed in Catholizing the people of Visayas and Luzon but they failed in Mindanao and the surrounding islands of Sulu.America join the power race and add up to the agony of the kingdom by sponsoring the Philippine Republic and take the whole archipelago island under the Republic of the Philippines.

Today , the people of the kingdom was still intact but confused. The leadership has mixed up and pilferated politically to keep the kingdom at the bay purposely by the countries sitting on the territory of the kingdom. The target of this political maneuver are the relatives to the throne by simply pumping the idea to let all of them if possible to stand as a Sultan and so we see the present situations.

By simply capitalizing the relative to the throne by those countries , the conjecture of greed for each and every relatives to the kingdom has developed that creates the whole of insinuations and ploy of claim, adding the greed groups that join the bandwagon of the so called Sultanate wealth.

The Kingdom hierarchy is fool proof in the sense to the three consecutive Royal rank namely Maharajah Adinda ,Rajah Muda and Sultan Proper.,without undergoing to this rank any claimant sultan is considered fake, because the three rank must be undergone by the reigning Sultan. This predictive process is unbroken ,same is true to military rank nobody can be a General instantly without going to become a Major and Colonel . In Islamic Royal Succession being a son of the Sultan is not tantamount to inherit the throne. The Primogeniture succession to the last male heir must take place as in the case of Mohammad Fuad- He never became nor his older brother Mahakuttah a Maharajah Adinda nor Rajah Muda. His father has a younger brother ,Punjungan Kiram. Therefore, Punjungan Kiram is the Rajah Mudah and successor of the father of Mohammad Fuad, he therefore is an outright bogus claimant sultan because he never undergone the unbroken hierarchy to the lineage to become a Maharajah Adinda then Rajah Mudah and Sultan Proper. Acting directly as a Sultan and claim it at once without going through the process is a paradox.

Should the Philippine government continue to assert its claims for Sabah?

I CANT SA MUCH BUT i have 70% on agreeing that the government should continue first they should let the sultan of sulu to figure it out to whom it should be given because it was given to his/her ancestors but because of the long time that people didn't mind it the history got jumbled up many said some things happened but i think the thing that really happened in the first before it got jumbled up was that SABAH was given to the earlier sultan of sulu and then around 1920-1963 it got jumbled up but the sultan of sulu should decide after all it is his heritage but due to the long time Malaysia was formed with sabah in it because it was under the sultan(the sultan after the war with his brother) that gave sabah to the sultan of sulu and some malaysians thought it was handed by the british to them (by the fact that the british leased it from the sultan of sulu but they know that it was from the sultan that defeated the sultan of the entire island) BUT I THINK it was jumbled with the british because they knew sabah was from the sultan that won the war so they thought that they should give it back to him again(THE SULTAN THAT WON IS THE ONE THAT MADE MALAYSIA)

Who says there are many sultan of sulu and sabah?

There can be no many Sultan of Sulu and Sabah at one time . The hierarchy to the throne can never be broken because three distinct rank has to be undergone by the reigning and legitimate Sultan of Sulu and North Borneo. Sulu and North Borneo is considered one kingdom and therefore cannot be divided. The genuine Sultan has to undergone three distinct rank - the third to the hierarchy Maharajah Adinda , the second to the hierarchy Rajah Muda and the first to the hierarchy Sultan proper, these three rank is the lineage to the throne because the Succession is moving in one direction and not transferable- The reigning Sultan will choose his Rajah MUda, the Rajah Muda will choose his Maharajah Adinda- once the reigning sultan die or abdicated , the Rajah Muda will become a Sultan and the Maharajah Adinda will become Rajah Muda, the Rajah Muda will again choose his Maharajah Adinda to complete the hierarchy. This is foolproof and predictive in the sense ,there is no way this can be broken. To broke the hierarchy is simply to claim outright as the heir to the throne of the died or abdicated Sultan without being a Maharajah Adinda and Rajah Muda which automatically classified the claimant as fake and bogus Sultan. This is the dilemna today of the Royal Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo Kingdom , dozens of claiming sultan relative to the throne is now claiming as a Sultan ,which was one reason of Malaysia and Philippines not to acknowledge the genuine Sultan to avoid the return of the proprietary property of now a Traditional kingdom. The political administration now goes to Malaysia and the Philippines. This unique situation call for more sober approach to stop the war in Mindanao and the illegal occupation of Malaysia to Sabah of whic own by the Royal Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo Many has violated and fabricated their own crafted story to confuse the people but the Kingdom is standing solid today. Unfortunately , those claiming sultans are all relative to the throne used by syndicated organization and the countries who were holding the properties and resources of the kingdom. The political dissolvation of the kingdom gave way to the usurper countries and illicit organization to used the relatives to the throne in muddling the hierarchy. The culprit behind the issue of many sultan is very clear to those who were holding the property and the resources of the kingdom including the scammers who want to join the bandwagon because the kingdom is now helpless without power to reckon to prosecute the culprits politically. None of the claiming Sultan has become a Maharajah Adinda or Rajah Mudah but claim the Sultan rank straightforward. The genuine , legitimate and reigning Sultan of Royal Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo is HRH Sultan Esmail D. KIram for fulfilling the Three consecutive lineage to the throne. Sulu island is the center of the Kingdom and therefore the provincial government of Sulu knows who is the genuine Sultan. (www.sulu.gov.pH , www. sultanatesulu.org)

Who is the legitimate and reigning Sultan of Sulu and North Borneo Traditional Kingdom?

There are many claiming Sultan of Royal Sulu and North Borneo Traditional Kingdom. Many speculations and speculators has argue their claim. The public has the right to know what is the truth and the basis of the truth. If we look on the political side, the issue will never arrived in any basis of reaching the finality because power play of politics is in effect, creating a bogus bloodline , cutting off the next hierarchy to make it appear succession belongs to them, paying of relative to the Royal family to claim as sultan, etc . The best way to find the genuine Sultan simply based on the ' Unbroken Law of Successions" that of Islamic in nature. Let us find out by the following guideline : 1. Genealogy - this is simply rooting out if the candidate Sultan belongs to the bloodline. The successions will course through to the last male heir successor before the oldest son under Primogeniture Law of succession takes place. The flow is continuous and uninterrupted, the succession never comes around in a loop but straight forward. 2. Unbroken Law of Successions - this is the descriptive system require to ascend as a Sultan. after the requirement has met by the reigning Rajah Muda . He will succeed as the reigning Sultan. The reigning Sultan wil now choose his Rajah Mudah and the reigning Rajah Mudah will choose his Maharajah Adinda. this complete the lineage. The unbroken system is predictive to the series of hierarchical lineage and impossible to break. 3. Claimant who never became a Maharajah Adinda and 'Rajah Mudah ' successively is automatically disqualified to claim as a Sultan because the lineage is predictive to the three successive ranks. 4. The reigning Sultan must have been crown by the people inside the kingdom. The ' Vox Dei Vox Populi principle is observed. The last Rajah Muda of the Royal Sulu and North Borneo Kingdom is HRH Sultan Esmail D. Kiram II ( a tree called Rajah Muda Tree was planted in 1998 beside the tomb of HRH Sultan Paduka Pahala located in Dezhou, Shandong province, China) prior to the abdication of his older brother HRH Sultan Jamallul Kiram III in 2001. HRH Sultan Jamallul Kiram III was abdicated due to his physical incapacity to rule ,the accident he contracted has cost him his eyes and was blinded, as per Law of Succession he has to be abdicated and he choose to live in Taguig Manila afterwards. Therefore the true and genuine reigning Sultan among others who claim the throne is HRH Esmail D. Kiram II. He met all the criteria as a true bloodline Kiram , became a Maharajah Adinda and Rajah Mudah and was crowned by the people in Sulu and North Borneo Kingdom inside of the Sulu kingdom. He was the 34th reigning Sultan of Royal Sulu and North Borneo Kingdom as presently attested by the Sulu Provincial Government . Sulu island is the center of the kingdom dates back 1400 A.D.(www.sulu.gov.pH )

Why do the Philippines claim the Sabah?

Because logically the Sabah is rightfully in the Philippine territory. It was just LEASED by Muslims residing in there who always love to claim things as their own regardless of whatever legal rights of the country. It can also be linked to religion since Muslims always prefer to do any transactions with their co-Muslims for the sake of their ever-discriminating leg god allah's Islam. Religion and World power's influences will always play a big role in this dispute however, no matter how they claim whether be cultural or traditional reasonings, the rights should be to the Philippines and the international law should stop playing blind about this matter.

Will Malaysia return Sabah to the rightfull owner?

Returning Sabah may not be the issue for Malaysia, but the interest of Malaysia to Profit out of Sabah. It was said that the net profit of Malaysia to Sabah and Sarawak combined could be 40 to 50 % of their GNP . Looking closely , Malaysia will not let Sabah and Sarawak go off their hand without provocation of a probable war. However, the advent of modern advocacy under UN charters may put end to this long and standing problem of Sabah like Hongkong that was returned to China lately, Forfeiting the real owner of their rights as the legitimate and sovereign owner of the land, the Sultanate of Sulu is now at the mercy of the UN or any country that will sponsor the case against Malaysia. Many countries of the world now has managed to get away from their captors through the intervention of UN. The problem today of finding a sponsor country for the Sultanate remains unclear, since the Sultanate of Sulu has been stripped out of her Political power to become a member nation of UN.The only probable solution is to privately lodge a case to ICJ if will be permitted. To return Sabah to the Sultanate of Sulu is almost as impossible task but hope is still and miracle could happen only as an alternative.

Who owns sabah?

The territory of Sabah belongs to the people of Sabah who in 1963 legally formed Malaysia federation as a act of self determination. In 1865 Charles Lees Moses obtained from the Sultan of Borneo a lease on Sabah (north Borneo) for 10 years he then sold the lease to Joseph William Torrey as the lease came to an end he sold his remaining rights to the Consul of the Austro Hungarian empire Baron Von Overbeck who in 1875 obtained a renewal. In 1878 he became Maharajah of Sabah and Raja of Gaya and Sandakan making him the legal overlord of the territory 3 weeks later he aquired the lesser title from Sultan of Sulu whose power was in question and who was colonized only a few months later by the Spanish. In 1885 the Spanish agreed to recognise the territory of North Borneo as British in the Madrid protocols the Sulu Sultans cannot make any claims as they were no longer in power over their own territories. In 1903 in a confirmatory deed Sulu sultan Jamulural Kiram II confirmed the cession of Sabah and furter Islands to the British North Borneo company in return for a further 300 Pesos (Mexican) his loss of power and lands meant he was in no position to control anything and he was simply securing a pension for himself and his heirs. In 1938 his heirs arrived in the Borneo high court to argue for resumption of cession fees as it had been stopped (due to Kiram having so many heirs no one knwe who was the legal heir and who was not he himself appointed 9 heirs which was unrealistic) the judge agreed and confirmed the land was ceded. In 1942 Japan conquered North Borneo and dissolved ANY previous agreements therefore the previous treaties spoken herein are invalid including the 1878 treaty Sulu reguluraly thumps in the air ignoring all other agreements prior to this one and after it. Please note Sabah according to the Brunei side sabah was never given to Sulu which is why the Brunei sultan appointed Von Overbeck over lord of Sabah Sulu's ONLY claim is through the tributes they frightened the people into paying to them (they were pirates and raiders similar to the Vikings of Europe) there is NO CESSION treaty between Sulu and Borneo (Brunei). Also note in the Suluk and British versions of the agreement in 1878 Sabah was and has been leased/ceded in perpeuity meaning forever UNTIL the sun and moon no longer rise since they are still rising Sulu has no claim. Laws of decolonisation of the United Nations and the laws of effective control are both in Malaysias side also note to any Filipino who might see this International court of Justice is not AN option as would Philippines go to ICJ over Mindanao? Also the people of Sabah freely chose to join Malaysia if their vote was disregarded and their contribution to Malaysia (which is great) the people would choose to leave Malaysia and neither Philippines/sulu or Malaysia will get it. there are no other points that can challenge this as 1878 agreement is null and void by modern thinking.

Why does some of the iranun tribe of the Philippines moved to Sabah Malaysia?

The existence of the Iranun in Sabah, Malaysia is one of the untold episode or history of the Iranun as Nation of the world, way back from the Uranen Kingdom of the prehistory period. Iranun tarsila narrates that the original inhabitants of the Island was Iranun. During the prehistory period of the Iranun, immigration was already observed. The Iranun was used to sail and navigate going west and southwest direction for socio-economic-political objective. They reached Java, Sumatra, Makassar, Johore, Borneo (Brunie) and other places/nations. Iranun tarsila narrates that the mother of Princess Pagunguwan (daughter of Rajah Urangguwan) was the daughter of the last Emperor of the Sri Vishaya Empire. It happened that Borneo was then one of the naval bases and tributary to the Sri Vishaya Empire. Therefore, there was a social relationships established between the two sovereigns through marraige. From then the two sovereign nations interacts in all aspects of statehood or nationhood. Until finally history period came. The whitemen (Spaniards) arrived in the shores of the Island in 1521. During the height of the realm of Sultan Kudarat at Ramitan, the first seat of Sultanate; his neighbor Sultan, the Sultan of Brunie faced a heavy problem in his realm. There was an uprising organized by some group of people who can not accept the sovereignty of the Sultan. Thus there was rebellion in his Sultanate. The Sultan of Brunie requested a reinforcement from Sultan Kudarat to augment his royal army to protect and defend his sovereign nation from the rebellion. Sultan Kudarat answered the request in favor of his neighbor sultan of Brunie. Sultan Kudarat sent a big military expedition to Brunie. According to the Iranun tarsila, the military expedition was composed of twelve (12) vessels. Each vessel was composed of forty (40) army (warrior). Therefore, there were four hundred eighty (480) armies (warriors) who were sent to Brunie to help the Sultan of Brunie. To compensate the assistance extended to him by the Iranun armies (warriors) of Sultan Kudarat, and for owing his gratitude, the Sultan of Brunie offered them some portion of his sovereign state to the Iranun armies. Majority of the Iranun armies accepted the offer with the consent of Sultan Kudarat. They lived there with their families with harmony and prosperity. They are the descendants of the Iranuns in Sabah, Malaysia. The present situation wherein many of the people from different nations migrate to other nation for the reason of green pasture is common to nations which are economically unstable. In the case of the people of Mindanao, especially Iranuns migrated to Sabah because they are seeking greener pasture for them to sustain the basic nessessity of their families. They are adventuring to Sabah with a hope that they can be able to strengthen their economic capability. Therefore, the presence of the Iranuns in Sabah, Malaysia can be described into two plausible reasons. The first reason is historical. The first wave of migration of the Iranuns in Sabah, Malaysia was attributed to the socio-political relationships of the the two nations: Iranun and Malaysia during the 16th century. Second reason is economy. At present time many people in the Philippines not only Iranuns but other tribes migrate to Sabah, Malaysia for economic reason. Many Iranuns at present time seek greener pasture to Sabah, Malaysia. Malampayan, Likas, Lahd Datu, and Tbok are identified Iranun communities in Sabah, Malaysia.
