Yes Apollo 17 was the last moon mission.
John Watts Young, made three orbits in the first manned Gemini flight, Gemini 3.

Only lunar (moon) mission spacecraft were called Apollos. The first manned space flight program was named Mercury, the second was named Gemini. These were test/learning programs leading to the third named Apollo. These early U.S. programs were named after Greek and Roman Gods. Apollo was a god of light and the sun, truth and prophecy and other talents. The spacecraft that were made as part of the Apollo program are called Apollo spacecraft and the flights called Apollo missions. Apollo 11 was the first Apollo mission to put men on the moon.
The first manned landing on the moon was made by the Apollo 11 lander called the 'Eagle' - as in the famous words "the Eagle has landed." Subsequent Apollo missions used landers with other names. These were: Intrepid (Apollo 12) Antares (Apollo 14) Falcon (Apollo 15) Orion (Apollo 16) Challenger (Apollo 17)
None, all six manned flights to the moon were made in Apollo spacecraft from 1969 to 1972.
It was the Apollo 8 spacecraft.

The idea of manned flight has been around for hundreds and maybe thousands of years. On December 17, 1903, the Wright brothers made the first successful powered flight by a manned vehicle.
In December 1903 the Wright Brothers made the best manned flight which was controlled and sustained (i.e. not controlled falling or gliding).

The Wright Brothers (Good answer. I was going to say the Montgolfier brothers ... they flew in 1783.)

All Apollo missions to the moon were launched by Saturn 5 rockets. However, the last portion of the rocket was jettisoned shortly after trans-lunar insertion, so the majority of the rip was made using the Apollo Spacecraft, which had rockets but was not itself a rocket.
