The internet was actually created in the 1940's by the US military. It wasn't widely known about until the late 1960's when universities bgan using it to transmit information between campuses.
Do you mean the internet we use today, as in the World Wide Web? If so, the first web browser was introduced in 1991. If you mean the internet, the global system of interconnected computer networks that use the standard Internet Protocol suite (TCP/IP) I have no idea.
