The Star-Spangled Banner was written during the War of 1812, by Sir Frances Scott Key. In the battle of Fort McHenry, during a rough battle with British naval ships. However, through all the rubble of the battle, the flag was still there. This is a patriotic song, first written as a poem epic, that touched the hearts of early Americans. It was later put to music, and was finalized as America's national anthem on March 3, 1931.
In the War of 1812, Francis Scott Key had been escorted aboard a British ship and detained there during the Battle of Fort McHenry in Baltimore harbor. The British pounded the American fort relentlessly with canon fire that night but when the morning came Key saw the huge flag of the fort still there and that the Americans had not given up. This inspired him to write the star spangled banner.
The National Anthem was written because the war of World War 2 was going on. And it was written to be a poem.
The Overal mood of this song is to be glad that the fort was still runned by the USA soliers and not the Japenise
