The reason the Irish failed to take Ulster back is because the people of Ulster didn't want to be Irish, they died and resisted, the British army which was sent over caused major drama creating opposing militia groups such as the IRA, anyone who wanted British rule was at constant threat from the IRA but the IRA were under threat from the British army, search up "go home British soldiers" it is a rebel song.

Ireland never got Ulster back because nobody wanted them to.
