∙ 14y agoThe Articles of Confederation was instituted during the American Revolution to serve as the first for of government for the new United States. It was purposely made weak because it was made to be the exact opposite form of government from what the colonists were under during British rule.

∙ 12y agothe articles were the original document that governed the states. it failed, threfore we have the constitution. they were created in 1779, but ratified completely in 1781, the same year as the last major battle in the revolution: the battle of Yorktown.
