Why won't my JVC hard disk camcorder work with Windows Movie Maker?

Your JVC Hard disk camcorder imports files in a .MOV format that is NOT compatible with Windows Movie Maker. These are the only file name extensions Windows Movie Maker will import:
.asf, .avi, dvr-ms, .m1v, .mp2, .mp2v, .mpe, .mpeg, .mpg, .mpv2, .wm, or .wmv
Files formatted with .MOV and .mp4 extensions will need to be converted before you can import and edit them in Windows Movie Maker. What you need to do is download a Video Converter. Free video converters are available online. Simply Google: free video converters.
Once you have a converter downloaded, locate/import your camcorder (.MOV) video files into the converter. Follow the conversion instructions making sure your "Output Source" is one of the above mentioned formats. I tend to use .wmv or .avi in Windows Movie Maker, but any extension listed will work.
