I have a Sony KDL-46EX720 and I'm trying to connect it to my 5.1 Surround Sound system The TV will not allow me to connect it directly so do I need a receiver What kind do I need?

You need a receiver with an HDMI output, such as the Sony STRD series of receivers. Your '5.1 Surround System' sounds either like a surround speaker set with no amplifier, or a system designed for computers. The Sony receivers will amplify passive (non-powered) speakers, but the subwoofer will need to be powered. You will then need to purchase a DVD or Blu-Ray player with an HDMI output. Alternately, you can purchase a Blu-Ray Home Theatre system, which includes the BluRay player and receiver (1 unit), and matching speakers. The Sony BDVE systems are a good place to start.

Can a Sony DVD player play a Blu-ray DVD?

How do you set up your bluray player for Netflix?

If you already have a Netflix account, you just need to enter your account information on the BluRay player's Netflix menu. If you don't have an account already, you will need to set one up on your computer so that you can get the account information that the BluRay player needs.

Do you need to have a receiver for the Panasonic SP-PK21BS surround sound I have a samsung bluray player that has speaker connections will that work?

The Panasonic SC-BT series (there is no SP-series) are theatre-in-a-box systems with a disc player with built-in amplifier. You don't need a receiver for this. Your Samsung would also have its own amplifier if it has speaker outputs. These two systems wouldn't connect to each other, but you may be able to use the Panasonic's speakers with the Samsung.
