Did you dump him? Let me tell you why I don't talk to my ex. It's been 8 years since my wife of 20 years dumped me for another woman. I was a dutiful and loving husband and cared for her deeply. I loved her more than anything on earth. When she left she celebrated openly and was as giddy as a new bride. She could not hold back how exciting and wonderful this new love affair and new life was for her. She was keen to introduce me to her new partner and even gloated over how good looking she was. She was eager to set off on a wild honeymoon ride while I stayed at home trying to figure out what to do with my life. I was crushed. Although I saw it coming for a few years, and thought I was prepared and "grown up" and rational when it happened, I was totally heartbroken by the event. After a long period of depression I was left with a complete sense of alienation. I almost immediately felt like she was a stranger to me, and me to her. I felt awkward, self-conscious and embarrassed when I talked to her in the days that followed. Mostly, I felt incredibly humbled and hurt. This feeling has never changed. I have an overwhelming sense of rejection and it hurts badly. Talking to her would be like picking a scab. I don't want to humiliate myself or come across as pitiful, weak or sappy. The trust and openess is gone...the barriers are up...her's and mine. I also ask myself...now that she has a new partner, what can I offer her...or her me? There is nothing she can ever do for me that I can't do for myself or ask a relative to help with. I don't feel like I would ever have the right to ask for a favour again anyway. She has her support group...and a big, noisy, in-your-face one at that. Why would I subject myself to her ridicule or that of her friends? She doesn't need me anymore. I have been "relieved" by her new partner. What's done is done, so what's the point of talking? I'd rather suck it up and get on with my own life. I haven't spoken or written to her since the week she left 8 years ago. I miss her terribly though.

∙ 12y agomove on keep your head up high and take another chance for finding the right man of your dreams.But, if you both have a kid be respectful to each other for the sake of you child/children.also, you cant force somebody to talk to you. the fact is he needs space,and you need space to look for the right people in your lives.
