One of the wires in your headphones are probably broken. If you wrap your headphones around your iPod your stretching the wire and it probably disconnected.

well my ipod nano dosent play songs without headphones so no their is no way on its own to display music on your ipod touch. btw im only 12 so even i can figure that out.

Not entirely, they only play through headphones, they fall out of wrist straps and they aren't very good at clipping (I know, because I used to have one).
