YOU NEED TO LOAD 3RD PARTY DRIVERS WHEN INSTALLING XP FROM CD WATCH CLOSE WHEN INSTALL START FOR "PRESS F6 FOR 3RD PARY DRIVERS" IT WILL THEN KEEP LOADING WINDOWS AWHILE THEN STOP AND ASK FOR A FLOPPY WITH YOU SATA/SCSI DRIVERS ON IT. YOU MAY HAVE TO SLAVE A FLOPPY IN JUST FOR THIS OPERATION. YOU CAN USUALLY GET THESE DRIVERS OFF YOU MOTHERBOARD DRIVERS CD OR THE MOTHERBOARD MANUFACTURES WEBSITE. I RUN INTO THIS PROBLEM ON ABOUT 20-40% OF SATA DRIVES WHEN I NEED TO INSTALL XP. GOOD LUCK I agree 100% with the comments above. Good info and very true! One excellent, super simple solution shared here for informational purposes only is: Ubuntu 7.10 Linux desktop. simply insert the 100% FREE Ubuntu CD and boot the system. It will boot to an X-Windows environment and there is a Partition Editor system application where you can see that it recognizes the SCSI harddrive. It boots and runs off the CD, so nothing is installed to the harddrive, until you decide to. Simply remove the CD, and you are back where you started... Annoyed and not booting for lack of drivers for that other operating system. Note: The Ubuntu Linux CD is FREE. It looks great and feels very familiar, but you do have to download the ISO file and burn it yourself. It is about 500MB and takes one CDR. This is a way to identify that it is driver issue and that the PC is otherwise good.
