If you selected shutdown from the start menu, your computer may be slow shutting down or a software will be conflicting. If you are using 2 different protection software, for example; AVG for anti-virus and COMODO internet security, they will conflict and will be conflicting when shutting down.
Also, scan for viruses, spyware and malware.
