Why would I smell oil in a passat 2000 when I the car lows down?

If you have a 1.8T, the breather for the crankcase is below the intake manifold. The poor design of the engine causes oil to be sucked up through the breather and sit in the breather assembly then causing it to rot and fail. When you aredriving slow, the vapors from your crankcase waft in through the cabin air intake. you need to purchase a breather T fitting, it is expensive -about 45 dollars from the dealer, and install it. Look below the intake on the drivers side of the engine for the faulty part.

If you didn't have a sense of smell how would you know if you stink, that would suck if your on a date and your date leaves you because you smell "rank." Your sense of taste seems less important to me, if you think about it living without taste isn't bad as you not being able to see, touch, hear, and smell. All in all you need your sense of smell to coexist in everyday life.

Try driving it in revrerse for a good 12 minutes, it will back the gas milage back down to under 41k and the problem will dissappear.

I had a 2000 jetta and the dipstick is down below by the rack & pinion on the driver's side. It is not long enough to reach the top (accessible from open hood). You have to go under the car and reach on the front drivers side of the transmission.
