Why would Microsoft XP not shut down and have to be shut down from the power supply?

In: Windows

Answer

Typically this is because the drivers did not unload appropriately from some device that was recently installed. I would uninstall the most recent device you put on or in the system, and see if it works. Also ensure that you have all the critical updates!
