Why would a 1998 Venture make a front end noise like springs popping every time you turn the wheel left or right?

[Edit]

Answer

Bad ball joints, tierod ends- need to get it checked- ASAP

-My mechanic said it was the strut bearings.

Possibly your CV joints as well. more of a clicking sound though

***Appended answer - check your control arm bushings. They (on a Venture) have a tendancy to wear out and cause fore/aft play (thus the popping noise when applying sudden forward force or aggressive stop (vs only hitting bumps). These are relatively inexpensive to change and fix and could be done by the average user if you go to your local parts store and get the alldata on how to do it. I recommend you do both sides at the same time vs one at a time as they often will wear out together (right side is usually more vulnerable).
