Why would a Narcissist communicate love via email and text then completely ignore responses that reciprocate the love and does not provide hope for the relationship?

When you responded, you refueled his supply. Any response would have been acceptable including a negative one. That will keep him going for a little while, then he will seek more supply, and contact you again. This scenerio will play over and over. If yu completely ignore him, he will be alright with the wait, until you break down again. The N has no sense of wasted years of this. They live hour to hour. Supply is all that is needed. That's what I suspected. But why is he okay with the wait? Is it that he is getting enough from a number of sources in the meantime? Does he not really mean what he says? The impression always is that he wants to be with me and he's just waiting for me to come back. It's good to learn about the scenerio playing over and over. I always think this will end. I have always assumed it would end when he gets married. I also wonder if while we were engaged he remained in contact with his other ex's? Do they do this with 'all' ex's indefinitely? His family (and others) confirmed I was truly "the one", so I never know what to think about this. A deception or truth? The wasted years concept rings so very true also. Thanks again! I know a N that married and divorced his first wife twice and married and divorced the second wife twice also. I don't think that they can feel regret. He probably does think that you are the one, but the tragedy is he won't act on it. A narcissist has a warped mind. Yes, if there is other supply, that will keep him occupied for awhile. Supply could be anything that makes him feel important like a class in something at a college,playing in a band,a parttime job, a friend or relative that just gives him attention.It doesn't have to be another woman.He just wants to know you will speak to him, even if it is to ask a stupid question for 2 seconds. That will hold him 2 weeks or more.This can be maddening. The only hope is falling for someone else to get over him. If you aren't married to a N, know that you are not bound to this relationship .Ask God to send you your husband and rest it that. relax My N. ex always could send me the most useless text msgs, things that meant NOTHING just to see if I could answer him.

Definately! He was in danger lof losing his supply so he kicked it up a notch! Yes they always increase the voltages if they see you getting stronger.

Again, narcissism is a rare and serious diagnosed personality disorder, not a label. By nature of the disorder a true narcissist wouldn't think anyone is superior to him.

My ex married one-and he is a pathological narcissist as I know I lived it-It is the most insidious emotional abuse one can encounter- A Somatic Narcissist tends to be very promiscuous-she/he disregards her marriage and have multiple affairs just to satisfy their need for narcissist supply -Admiration-power--The Somatic Narcissist will capture you - control you with their sexual seduction and when he/she has you completely in their control her true self will come out-cruel and unemotional-and when you no longer satisfy their narcissistic supply the Somatic Narcissist will leave you as quickly as he/she entered your life-and onto the next-As I understand Somatic Narcissist have many affairs --regardless married or not. Mine did. I dumped him and he blocked me from everything because I was so angry and called him names and wouldn't get over my anger. He said I hurt him because I called him a "coward", "a narcissist", "a jerk", "stupid", etc. so he blocked me completely.

What happens to the narcissist that has completely ruined his reputation and burnt all his bridges yet has no means to relocate?
Don't worry a narcissist always lands on his/her feet like a cat! They are sly, selfish, can usually charm the gold out of a person's teeth and never miss a beat for any opportunity. According to the narcissistic mind they have all the power and never run out of ideas and certainly don't feel they have burned all their bridges. Psychologists do believe that there is a love/hate relationship between a male narcissist and his mother (who was probably narcissistic or cruel as well.) Whether the narcissist hates his/her mother they will always run back and hate themselves for doing so. If dear old mother isn't there then they continue to harass an ex-girlfriend or ex-wife.

In my opinion, it completely depends on the people who are in the relationship. Some couples are very okay with assuming everything is fine while not really talking things out with one another, however, it has to be mutual or it will not work. If you're in a relationship with someone who likes to communicate emotions/problems, then it might not exactly work out for the best if you are a person who doesn't like to talk about those sorts of things.
