Why would a car jerk and buck at slow speeds?

Answer

I know this is MUCH later, but I was surfing and couldn't help but answer. Fords (and Mercurys and Lincoln) are infamous for vacuum leaks. It is possible that you have a leaking vacuum hose, or a missing vacuum system cap, which would make a hissing noise if you open the hood with the vehicle running. Hope this helps --
