it largely depends on what kind of friendship the two of you have/had.
He may just call you that because you are a good person! However, if it bugs you that much, better talk to him about it. That should sort out any misunderstanding.

9 out of 10 times when a guy calls you by a "pet name"chances are he its flirting with you. If you are not comfortable with it, I would tell him flat our that you are uncomfortable with this and that you are a married woman! If this is something you like, first thing you need to so is ask yourself if you love your husband and still want to be married, out you don't, this may be something to discuss with your husband first. Them, if later down the road you still have the hots for this guy that calls you sweety, I would try calling him a pet name back and smile at him (you know flirt with him a little) and see how he reacts to it, at that point you and him will get the point.
