I know in my Son's case they have moved him because of being overcrowded, and then they moved him back. He was at a county jail and they sent him over to a Federal Jail for about a month and sent him back. They are mixing to move him again but it is because he took a Plea Bargain and will need to serve 5 months more in a State Jail, he is in a County Jail right now but overcrowding is the main reason he isn't moving right now.

How would you find out about an inmate in Elmira Correctional Facility?

I'm guessing that this facility is in New York state. If this is the case, go to the NYDOC site, and do an inmate look-up. Provide as much information as you know. See the link below.

Why would an inmate be moved to another jail in another county where they do not have charges?

Certain countries have agreements to allow foreign convicts to serve their sentences in their home country. Using these agreements is a decision of the country where the conviction was made.

Can you get married in Stateville Correctional Center in Joliet ILlinois if the person is in reception?

No you cant get married there if the inmate is in reception. When an inmate is in reception they are just being held there until they can figure out where to house the inmate. With this said they do not have the same opportunities in reception as they would if they were at their home facility.

How do you write a physical hardship letter to prevent a movement of an instate inmate?

Be plain, simple, and sincere. Be detailed in the reasons it would be a hardship for the family if the inmate is moved. Finally, throw yourself on the mercy of the DOC, because it is entirely their purview whether the inmate is moved or not. Even in the most difficult situations, it is unlikely any letter will change their course due to facility need and security issues. If you have contact with a state other govermental body representative, enlist their assistance. Other governmental agencies are the only bodies recognized by the DOC as legitimate, and their support for your cause is your best hope.

Do most facilities owners say that the residents only have the privilege to live there?

What kind of facility are you referring to? Are you a tenant, a patient, an inmate? That would make a difference.

How do you get an inmate ID?

Contact the facility the inmate is located or if you would rather do it online look up the inmate through an inmate search, good place to start is: http://www.konmart.com/inmatemailing/index.php?title=Inmate_Search This is a directory to almost every jail and prison inmate population record that exists online, once you search using the inmates name the ID number will be returned in the results. Good luck.

How do you get power of attorney by someone incarcerated?

How can an inmate do a paternity test?

The rules for this will vary depending on what facility the inmate is at. If it is court ordered fordetermination of paternity (most often for custody or child support issues) then the facility would be very likely to perform the test (even more likely if an outside source is paying for it). It is just a simple swab test that can be done in any clinic setting. However, if the inmate is requesting the test without a court order, it will likely be much more difficult. In the case of the inmate requesting it, I would imagine that his sentence being served would play some factor in it. The facility might want to make him wait until he is close to release if they'll do it without a court order at all. Also, in many states if you've ever committed a felony they require that your DNA be part of your record. I'm not sure if it's possible to go this route, but everything's worth a chance when it comes to kids. There might be a way of using that DNA sample to establish paternity. That would require: the inmate's consent (in the case of no court order), the judge's permission, the ability of whatever testing facility, and availability of the sample for things like this.

How can you get a hold off of someone in jail?

If the person is a new book and is placed in a holding tank, then you can call the jail and ask to speak to that person. This is up to the discretion of the C/O's on duty and the facility rules and regulations, whether or not you get to speak to that person. Once a person is housed, inmates are not allowed to come out to use a free world phone. They are limited to collect calls using the phone inside the cell or day area, if the inmate is not in possession of a phone card bought from commissary. Other options is to call the facility and leave a message for them via the guard(s) on duty. Write them a letter with their name and the address of the facility they are being held at. Some facilities require an inmate number. Hence, calling the facility would be a good thing, to get the required information.
