Why would the brake lights work on a 1989 Jeep Cherokee but tail lights and console lights do not work?

[Edit]

Console lights and brake lighting are on different circuits (Fused seperately).

Check the following: bulbs, bases, corroded connections, poor ground, blown fuses, faulty light switch.
