Why would you gain weight from eating vegetables? |
[Edit] |
So, there are quite a few factors here, and this is a bit of a long response, so bear with me here, please.
Ok, first of all, I would like to state one very important thing:"TO MUCH OF ANYTHING IS A BAD THING!" 5 bags of vegetables! Man, that's not healthy.
Now that that is out of the way, we can move on.
I was at a friends house who's mother was obsessed with "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" and I looked at the bottle, and I gotta say, "I Can't Believe It Has No Calories". Look at the ingredients on the bottle. Canola oil, soy oil. Come on, how can oils (even good, unsaturated oils) not have calories? In my experience in life, there are two things in this world that don't have any calories: water, and air. And to look at my butt lately, I'm suspicious even of that. But I digress. The point I'm trying to get at is; I think because the serving size is so small, that the amount of calories is negligible. I'm pretty sure food companies are allowed a margin of error of about 15 calories, because not everyone is going to measure their peanut butter or mayoniasse to exactly 2 tablespoons to make a sandwich, ect. And if their tiny serving of fake butter falls into that margin of error, they're probably allowed to "erase" the calories entirely. It's like on the bottles of water, near the bottom on the back, it says "Contains salt, a necessary mineral, which adds a negliable amount of sodium" or whatever. But on the the nutrition lable, it says "0 percent daily amount of sodium". Well, obviously it's not 0 percent, its just so tiny no one really cares. Case in point. To sum up, you say you are "loading the vegetables" with the stuff. There's one of your problems. This stuff does have calories, the company is just "creatively omitting" it. And if you are eating as much as you suggest, that could be one of your problems. "Ahhh, one of my problems, you say, Graci?" Yes, one I say. Your next problem has a slightly gross answer, so I hope I don't offend anyone. When your eating that much fiber, I am sure that you are...very regular. I mean, your probably overly regular, if your catching my drift. (see: diarrhea) Your body probably thinks it's going into starvation mode, and is slowing down your metabolism. You aren't giving your body a chance to absorb the food normally and realize that it is getting enough nutrients. People that try to starve themselves go through the same problem that you have. The first few weeks of eating barely anything, you don't lose much weight. When your body is in starvation mode, it thinks that you are crawling through the desert for weeks without food. Any calories that you DO manage to absorb, are being stored for later. It takes awhile for your body to finally give up it's precious fat reserves. And by that point, most people have gone cuckoo, and headed face first into a swimming pool of haggan daaz. To finish off my little rant, I'd like to point out your last and biggest problem on losing weight: your attitude. You seem to think that food is an enemy that should be killed off. If you keep going on like this, you're going to drive yourself crazy. My dad always told me something that helped: "Don't eat things because they will help you lose weight, eat things because they will help you live a longer, healthier life, and in the end, you'll notice that your losing weight because of it." 5 bags a day of vegetables is excessive. Try eating a baked potatoe, or a turkey sandwich or something. A little bit of fat, and carbs, in your diet are nessacary for a healthy body. By eating that much vegetables, your not giving your body or your mind a chance to be happy. What your doing to your body right now is almost worse than what you were doing to it before.

Who comes up with these questions. I laugh so hard that it makes my day ! Thank YOU... I loved the humor in that last response.
You can call pizza a vegetable and gain a lot of weight on it.
You can sit and do nothing and gain weight on almost any amount of food.
You can turn your body into a machine like I have and enjoy every moment of every day.
I ride bikes and it is the best exercise of anything I have every done.
You meet people. You see wonderful scenery. You get to know your neighborhood and meet people and make friends who will ride with you and talk with you. And then you won't be eating !
You get your butt kicked on a hard climb and then you work at it and find you can do better.
Life is great. Nothing easier that getting lean and fit AS you learn what to eat and HOW MUCH ! Cut out all the butter and dressings and watch life change.
I USED to eat a 5 lb tub of margarine every week or two. Now I don't eat any and I save the money and reap the benefit of being lean and the foods that I THOUGHT (NOT !) wouldn't taste good without it are delicious !!!
vegetables also have carbohydrates which may cause you to gain weight if eatan in excess.
