Metamorphic rock can contain fossils, but since these rocks form under intense heat and pressure where stone flows something like taffy, the fossils will be highly degraded and distorted.

Sedimentary rock forms when layers of silt are Why_are_you_less_likely_to_find_fossils_in_metamorphic_rock_than_sedimentary_rockon the bottom of a body of water. When conditions are right, layers form quickly and are not disturbed and little oxygen is present, dead creatures that fall on that bottom can become entombed in preserved at the layers are increasingly compressed, eventually cementing into rock.

You wouldn't! Fossils are most commonly found in sedimentary rocks as the increased pressure and temperature conditions of metamorphism tend to destroy and fossils that may have been present in the rock (although it is worth noting that some fossils can survive the metamorphism process depending on the conditions and structural geologists use measure their change in shape to estimate the stress and strain history of the rock in question) .

Yes.

Would you find fossils in metamorphic rock?

You can but it very very rare. you are more likely to find them in sedimentary rocks.

Does igneous sedimentary and metamorphic rocks contain fossils?

No. In general, there are no fossils in igneous or metamorphic rocks, because the high heat and pressure involved would destroy any fossils. Fossils are almost always found in sedimentary rock.

What type of rock is most likely to hold a fossil?

A fossil will most likely be found in a sedimentary rock because sedimentary rocks are made out of organic fragments such as rocks, shells, leaves, fossils, pebbles, and so on. A metamorphic rock would not hold a fossil because a metamorphic rock forms under great heat and pressure, and fossils would be destroyed under such conditions. An igneous rock would not hold a fossil because they form through the hardening of molten rock and fossils would be burned up and cremated in lava. Thus, fossils will most likely be found in a sedimentary rock.

Would you be less like to find fossils in metamorphic rocks than in sedimentary rocks?

Yes.

What kind of rock do fossils form?

Sedimentary rock, its rarely found in metamorphic and never found in igneous rock because it would make the fossil of the animal worped and changed. It wouldn't be with the original form on metamorphic and igneous would destroy the whole fossil.

Which most likely would contain fossils?

sedimentary bedrock

Which bedrock would most likely to contain fossils?

sedimentary bedrock

Why are fossils most likely to be found in sedimentary rock samples?

Most fossils are found in sedimentary rock, because igneous and metamorphic rock undergo great heat and pressure when forming, where as sedimentary rocks undergo much less pressure and heat to form, better preserving the fossil

Why are fossils rare in igneous and metamorphic rock?

This is because igneous and metamorphic rocks are created under extreme heat and pressure, and very few fossils would survive those conditions. The most common forms of fossils are those found in sedimentary rocks.

What kind of rock is calcite igneous metamorphic or sedimentary?

ANSWERCalcite is really not a rock it is a mineral therefore it can not really be metamorphic , sedimentary , or igneous. But it is usually associated in materials of sediment so most likely it is sedimentary. If you would have to pick one. SEDIMENTARY
