Because it could start making your whole vehicle jerk, causing other issues including with your transmission. Get it fixed, it is cheaper than getting a new tranny!

Most motor mounts are designed to still hold the engine in place with the rubber portion of the mount ripped in half. But you will probably hear some noises coming from under the hood and feel strange vibrations. It would be best to replace the bad mount soon.
