This tends to happen because of a neuro-relay in your brain miss-firing. This tends to happen when you undergo emotions like stress or anger.

This is also a sympton of tourettes syndrome, along with other twitches.

However, this is nothing to worry about :)

What is it called when your eye twitches?

Technically an eye twitch is called a blepharospasm.

Why does one of my eyes flicker on and off though the day.?

Is that a unique way of describing what is commonly referred to as an eye twitch? If you mean your vision is going in and out, log off the computer and make an appointment with a licensed ophthalmologist immediately. If, however it is an eye twitch, it is believed that muscle spasms in the eyelid causes eye twitches. Because of this, it is believed that it is related to the nervous system. Technically speaking, eye twitching is called blepharospasm. It is thought that these muscle twitches can be brought on by emotional stress or physical eye strain like, staring at a computer for long periods. This type of eye twitch is not considered serious. There are also more severe forms of eye twitching that can even lead to blindness, so it is best to mention it to your eye doctor who can preform tests to determine which type of eye twitch you are experiencing.

What can you do for eye twitches?

My eye lid used to twitch. There was a time that it was happening frequently. My doctor told me to eat tums. He claimed that the calcium in it would help to stop the twitching. Brocolli or Kale would be a better way to get calcium into the diet even though tums are convenient. Calcium tablets are also easily available at any drugstore as a supplement.. Is there a name for when your eyes blink out of sync?

(Not sure about blink out of sync), But It could be what is known as an eye twitch. A common cause of an eyelid twitching is stress, fatigue, and caffeine. A twitch often goes away eventually, especially after a good nights sleep, or a lessening of stress. (I prefer tea to coffee!)
