First of all, bulbs are not normally rated in volts, they are usually recognised by how much energy they use per second (measured in Watts). However, in context of the question, there are two basic properties of an electrical circuit; current and voltage. Current is defined as the rate of flow of charge. That means that if a current of 1 amp flows for 1 second, 1 coulomb of charge is transferred. The equation is: Q=IT Charge transferred (in Coulombs) = Current (in Amps) x Time (in Seconds) Voltage is defined as the energy per unit charge: V=W/Q Voltage (in Voltage) = Energy transferred (in Joules) / Charge transferred (in Coulombs) Theoretically, based on these two equations, if you reduce the voltage but keep the current the same, the energy transferred is halved and thus, the light given out by the bulb will be halved. However, depending on what bulb it may not light at all as an LED (light emitting-diode) will only light if there is a bigger voltage than its threshold voltage. Its threshold voltage is the point where as voltage increases beyond that point, the LED's resitance would be almost zero and the bulb will light. A Filament lamp is a non-ohmic conductor (as is an LED) because the resistance is not constant as the voltage increases. This is because as the voltage increases, the energy it transfers is more and the lamp heats up. This heat vibrates the metal lattice of the wire and inhibits electron flow (charge carriers) through the metal and so its resistance increases. Thus depending on the bulb and its resistance, it may light or it may not. A simple answer to all this is, the bulb may light or not depending on the bulb and current across it. This is assuming that the length and cross-sectional area of the wire as well as the number of electron charge carriers (electron number density of the material) is constant.

would discharge in 18 hours

What is the Weight of 8 foot fluorescent light bulb?

The weight of one 8 foot fluorescent light bulb is 1.2 pounds. Fluorescent light bulbs are available in many colors and color temperatures.

If you have 2 12 volt batterys connected to a series how many volts would you have?

You will have 24 volts DC.

Is wattage the same for 12 volt and 110 volt?

You asked the question by using voltage in your question. So here is the simple answer from the perspective of electricity. Watts is a measure of power. It is a simple equation V x A. That is jargon for Volts times Amps. That is different jargon for Potential Energy times the Current Flowing. So a 12 volt supply like in your car, delivering 5 Amps to say a small in car TV is using 60 watts. In your home a 60 watt bulb is being driven from your 110 volt supply and so is (in theory) only drawing about half an Amp (0.5454 Amps recurring for decimal number fans). Or 110 Volts x 0.54 Amps = 59.4 Watts Watts is named after James Watt who made steam engines long before the domestic electric supply or in car TV was around. So beware ! Watts is a measure of power. Not just electrical power. The equation above is true only really for DC power supplies (like a flashlight battery or maybe your car battery). There are other definitions using good scientific phrases like Joules and energy conversion. But as you asked in Volts, here is a simple answer.

How many joules are there in a led bulb?

Since LED bulbs come in a variety of sizes there is no one answer. If we consider Watts then LED bulbs from 1 to 12 Watts are common. The higher end of quality LED lights that are commercially produced generally yield about 80 lumens per Watt. This means for a 10 Watt LED bulb your looking at 800 Lumens. This is higher than both CFL and incandescent lights. LED bulbs can save money in the long run due to the lower energy use, but they require a larger up front investment. See below for a link to an example of an LED bulb that produces 460 lumens.

Does a 9 volt battery light a light bulb?

Yes, for about .1 second, then it will blow the lamp. A 9v battery will however light three 3.5v lamps.

Can a car battery light up a 60 watt regular light bulb with out using a power inverter?

Yes it it is a 12 volt DC light bulb. It will not operate a household 120 volt light bulb.

Is 12 volt is enough for a 100 watt light bulb?

12 volts is enough for a 12-volt 100-watt light bulb. It would not be enough for a 120-volt or 240-volt bulb.

Can you use car bulb 60watt on 12 volt 7.2 amp battery?

Yes if it is a 12 volt DC bulb.

Does a 62 volkswagen need a 12 volt battery or a 6?

The 1964 VW Beetle came from the factory with a 6 volt electrical system. Unless it has been upgraded to a 12 volt system you would need a 6 volt battery. I would recommend you check the voltage of the current battery with a volt meter. If there is no battery in the vehicle, just remove a light bulb and check the voltage written on the bulb.

What kind of battery can power a 40 watt light bulb?

If the bulb is a 40 watt, 120v bulb, you would need 20 6 volt batteries wired in series, or 80 (!) 1.5 volt batteries. 1.5 volt batteries are AAA, AA, C, D, etc. Since this solution is rather extravagant, try finding a light bulb made for an RV. These typically run off of 12 volts, and you can get a single 12 volt battery, or 2 6 volt batteries, to run this bulb.

Can a car battery light a bulb?

Most car batteries are 12 volts. They can light 12 volt bulbs. The bulbs in your house are likely 120 volt bulbs. A car battery will not light those without some very special equipment, or unless you were to wire ten car batteries in series.

If a circuit contains a twelve volt battery a switch and a light bulb what is the potential difference?

The potential difference has to be 12 Volts since the light bulb will use 12 Volts (or Joules per Coulomb!) of energy. Voltage has to be 0 when it reaches the negative electrode of the battery, so you know that the 12 Volts have to have been consumed by the bulb!

How many 1.5 volt batteries does take to light up a big light bulb?

Is the bulb a 1.5 volt bulb? A 3 volt bulb? A 12 volt bulb or a 120 volt bulb?Or does it have some other voltage such as 230 volts which is very common in Europe and many other countries of the world? What is the wattage of the "big light bulb"?This question cannot be answered without knowing at least the voltage and the wattage of the light bulb that is being asked about.

Can you use a 13.5 volt light bulb in place of a 12 volt Will it be burn as bright?

A 13.5 volt bulb will burn less brightly but last longer.

Will your 60 watt solar panal light up a 12 volts bulb without inventor?

If it is a 12 volt panel it will light a 12 volt bulb. Most likely it is not a 12 volt panel, it is some other voltage, so you then need equipment like an inverter to convert the energy to 12-volt energy.

How many light bulbs can a 6 volt battery light up?

If the type of light bulb you are using was made to run on 1.5 volts, a 1.5 volt battery should be able to light up one or several of those types if they are each wired in parallel directly across the 1.5 volt battery. If the type of light bulb you are using was made to run on 0.75 volts, a 1.5 volt battery will light up two or more of those types if they are wired in pairs in series across the battery. If the type of light bulb you are using was made to run on, say, 3.0 volts, a 1.5 volt battery will not light it up very much - it may just glow dimly. If the type of light bulb you are using was made to run on any voltage higher than, let's say 5 volts - for instance a standard 120 volt household bulb - then your 1.5 volt battery will not be able to light one of those up at all.Another answerYou can wire any number of 1.5v bulbs in parallel, but for each one you add you will draw more current. Draw too much current and the battery will get hot and may explode, depending on what it is made of.How long the battery will be able to keep the light bulbs lit will depend on the size of the battery, meaning how much charge it can hold. (Its capacity in amp.hours.)
