Will a dog cover its nose if it gets sprayed by a skunk?

[Edit]

Answer

Dogs don't like the smell of skunk anymore than we do, but they won't cover their nose to avoid it. They may, however, if sprayed in the face, wipe their faces with their paws to try and remove the scent.

Answer

A dog will certainly cover it's nose if Sprayed by a Skunk. The spray has most likely gone up the nose, as well as every where else. Bath your dog in Tomato Juice.

Answer

Not usually. They will run like the wind to get away from the smell. I had one of my dogs hit in the neck area by a skunk squirt and it was terrible. As my husband and I were gagging and trying to wash it off of her, she was smiling away as if it was "pay back time." Tomato juice does not work, but there is something your vet can give you to get rid of the skunk smell.

Answer

They can't covert their nose, even when they can it won't help much. They might not like the smell, but they will get use to it.
