The best thing to do would be to call up the place where you are going to rent the vehicles from. Ask them how much room they have in them and if you can remove the seats. Good luck and God Bless:)

ANOTHER ANSWER:

I've moved people a real lot, and have used all types of vehicles. Absolutely the minivan is the best. (I drive a Windstar with two bench seats.) Some advice to make the experience much less painful: 1st: when you rent a van, ask for bench seats, make sure you don't get one with captain chairs. 2nd: DO NOT mention moving OR taking out the seats. That will "open a door" to a lengthy, confusing, conversation between you and the rental agent. Remember - once you rent it, it's yours for the day or whatever. As long as you (or anyone else who has to move) follows my tips, it will work out great! All vans now have easy unclip, rollout seats. Once you rent the van, two people can very easily remove the bench seats. Put them somewhere safe; in your house, garage, or on the lawn with a sheet over it if there is no rain. Once those seats are out, you won't believe how much room is back there! Way more room than any SUV, which has higher floors and not all seat are removable all the time on all models. NOTE:Think about how much stuff needs moving, and how many days you plan to rent. If there is a lot of stuff and you think it may take many trips, consider renting a full-size van. Their seats also roll out easily, and the space is absolutely cavernous! You can fit 2 rooms of furniture in there! Now, the most important tip: Before you sign the rental agreement, read over the sections regarding insurance. Initial the boxes that decline additional insurance except...do initial the box to accept collision damage waiver... It is expensive (you pay a set amount per day) [$14-$24] but it is worth every single penny!! Trust me! During the move you won't have to worry about any bumps, dents, scrapes, cracked windows, (with helpers anything can happen!). You can basically get in an accident and return it trashed, and it costs you nothing, nada, Zippo! That said, when you're done, you pop the seats back in and return it to the rental agency

The above answer does sound reasonable, only I wanted to add a few details that some people might not know. The answer above said not to tell the agent you are moving and plan on taking out the seats..... Well that's because removing the seats is a violation of the contract, and doing so voids any and all coverage and insurance you have accepted or personally carry. Insurance will not cover anything if you violated a legal rental agreement. The LDW/CDW is also void if a violation occurs. So returning the car "trashed" is not a good idea. Trust me the rental car company will max out your cc and go after for full charges for the repairs. Plus loss of use of the vehicle.

I will tell you the reasons why its not acceptable. The first reason and the most common reason is the seats get lost/damage/stolen and then the van is returned w/o seats.. Those seats are very expensive to replace plus the incredible amount of money to have the seats shipped.....

The second reason, its true the seats are very easily removed, but believe it or not harder to put back on correctly. If the seats are not installed correctly a serious injury/ death could occur later if someone is involved in an accident.

Some rental car companies (not all) will remove the seats in advance if you call ahead of time and make arrangements with the maintenance dept. The will also keep the seats locked up in a secure area and install the seats back at return.... Now this is not an every day thing and this is only done with special circumstances. ie need wheelchair access. I don't think moving will be considered in this as a special need.

Some rental car companies now offer Cargo Vans and F150. These vans & trucks only have to front seats and nothing in the rear. But there are very few so make an advance reservations.

Also In my opinion why not just rent a moving truck it's a lot easier, plus I think its cheaper and you can get more furniture in the van.

Homes For Rent: A Great Alternative to Apartments?

If you are a person who either prefers to or needs to rent, and you have been renting apartments up until now, you might want to consider renting a house. If you have a family, especially, the difference between apartment and house renting can mean a lot for all of you. Homes for rent are available in nearly every town of every state, and sometimes they will not be advertised, especially if you happen to live near small towns. Apartments can be less inexpensive, as far as renting goes, but often it can cost you less to rent a house. Sometimes it’s good to compare what’s out there, with what you are renting now, to get a better idea about rental costs. If you are living in an apartment, you know that there are certain rules and regulations that you need to abide by, in order to live there. Homes for rent don’t normally have such restrictions, although homeowners will want you to be agreeable to a contract’s requirements, which can include maintaining proper noise levels and keeping the yard and home clutter-free. The other plus of renting a home, instead of an apartment is space. In fact, if you think of the space you can rent in a house, compared to that of an apartment, you can see why some homes definitely cost more to rent than apartments do. By contrast, the small space within an apartment home can be very restricting, to the point where often you feel you would like more space; here is where the beauty of a rental house really shines. Having plenty of space for you and your family to live in, can indeed be gained by renting a house instead of an apartment. Sure, they might sometimes cost a bit more, but the satisfaction you will gain from living somewhere that you feel you can breathe, move about, and not worry about noise and other hassles from having to live next door, underneath or above other people or families, can certainly be worth your money. Think on what you can afford, prior to selecting the cost range for a house, when actively looking.

If two people want to rent a room in a house do you charge more for rent?

yes! You charge 20% more. so if you're asking $300 for rent for one room you'd ask $360 for that same room with an additional person. Its the space effect of distribution. The extra person is using up an extra amount of space because in order to get into that room they'd need an easement from the door to the hallway and then into that room. So that'll have an opportunity cost. If the other person is willing to have someone else in their room, they already understand the opportunity cost and were more than willing to accept a second into their space. However, since you are the one renting out the room the cost of renting it will go up based on how many people are using it. It they rented the whole place it would be a fixed price. However, since they're going to create extra 'noise' disturbances it is customary that they pay a little extra for the shared space in someone elses dwelling.
