It can't. A new mutation in a somatic cell will not influence the genetic composition of the progeny except in cases where the mutation affects the carrying out of reproduction. This is because the gametes (ova or sperm) only come from the reproductive tissue (ovaries, seminiferous tubule in the testes).

A mutation of a single skin cell or even a group of cells cannot be passes to a person's offspring. That would mean that everyone whose parents had skin cancer would be born with it. Cancer is a mutation of the growth cycle gene (and some others varying by the type of cancer).

No..... Skin (epidermal) cells are somatic, egg or sperm cells are germ cells....no connection.

If you are referring to a mutation in individual cells of the skin, then no.

No, a mutation ina human skin cell can't be passed on to the person's offspring. Only a mutation in an egg or sperm cell can be passed on to offspring.

What can predict whether a mutation in a human skin cell can be passed to its offspring?

A mutation in a human skin cannot be passed on to an offspring, since it is only a somatic mutation which is acquired. The mutation that can be passed on to an offspring is called a germline mutation, which happens in the egg and sperm.

Will a mutation in a human skin cell pass on to the persons offspring?

If you are referring to a mutation in individual cells of the skin, then no.

Can mutation be passed along to human offspring through meiosis and mitosis?

Mutations can be passed down to offspring through meiosis, not mitosis.

Could a mutation in a cell in the liver of a human be passed on?

For a mutation to be passed onto the next generation it must be on sex chromosome. If mutation occurs in somatic cells of our body, it will not be passed on to the offspring(s). Mutation that changes one or few base pairs in the DNA is called point mutation.

Why cant mutation in a human cell be passed to an offspring?

It is all dependent on where the mutation takes place. If, for example, there is a mutation in one of your skin cells, this will not be passed on to the offspring. This is because in order to pass it on to the offspring the mutation has to be present in the offspring itself. Since the offspring is created from the egg and sperm of the parents, the skin cell has nothing to do with the offspring. But if there was a mutation in the egg or the sperm, there would be some sort of mutation found in the offpspring.

Mutations in the DNA of genes can be passed on to offspring?

Yes. this is possible but depend on the change in the gene which can inherited the character or change which acquired temporarily. for e.g. if we take a vaccine of poleo it doesn't make any change in our offspring cause it is acquired but if we make change in our DNA sequence by the vector which is not temporary will seen in offspring with a need dependent improvement.

What is Germ line mutation to somatic mutation?

germ line muttations are muttations that are hereditable, meaning it is passed on to offspring, and must be in a reproductive cell, such as a human sperm cell. somatic muttations are muttations that are not hereditable. this occors in non reproductive cells, such as an apple seed. hope this helped

When was Human Mutation created?

Hazardous Mutation was created on 2005-09-20.

What are Symptoms of the human mutation and effects?

The curious thing about any type of genetic mutation is that it can change anything in any place on the affected chromosome. Most genetic mutations have no affect on the phenotype. In some extreme cases though (i.e. LOTS of radiation) offspring are known to have extensive genetic mutation.

In human reproduction when are traits passed from parent to offspring?

Hereditary traits are the traits passed from parent to offspring in human reproduction. Eye color, hair color, freckles, nose size, and others are hereditary traits.

What is the most common mutation to genes?

p53 gene..approximately 50% of human cancers involve this mutation.
