If you have morbid obesity and co-morbid conditions (Diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.) and have a body mass index of more that 35, they will probably cover it. Most insurances will not cover bariatric procedures. The best place to find answers to this would be to talk to your insurance company directly - it's not likely any of them are lurking around here waiting for questions <g>

Yes they do. I have it, and im getting the lap band on 4/10/09...YAY!!!! Ask for a referral through your blue shield network. There will be lots of appointments, and tests. Very frustrating, but DONT GIVE UP!!! good luck to all!

They did pay for mine, July 2007 and they also offer to help or to cover the skin removal if you keep the weight off or prove you will not gain the weight back.
