yes it could also cause many other defects such as mentality, behavior, and emotional problems as the child gets older. if you have a drink once in awhile there should not be a problem.but consistant drinking can and will cause problems.
Alcohol for fetus abuse without excusHeck ya, I'm married to the baby of an alcoholic mother and I can tell you it can make a child stupid. My wife has never been able to comprehend math beyond simple addition and subtraction. She has very poor memory and almost no reasoning skills. I believe that alcohol to her as a fetus, then adding growing up in a house with Alcoholism has added much frustration to both of our lives. I love her, but it gets old telling her that 1/3 cup of sugar is less than 1/2 cup and you can double a recipe or half it and it will work.If I'm not here to "force" her, she will cook two separte making of a recipe then combine them in one pot. Go figure . . .

AnswerYes, it is very dangerous to drink while pregnant. You're playing with your child's life. When abused over a period of many years, alcohol may damage the liver, among other physical affects. Simply because a child is smaller than an adult, the same amount of alcohol will cause greater physical damage. Obviously being smaller will also get him drunker and for the same reason there is an enhanced risk of alcohol poisoning, which is just a fancy way of saying "overdose." The fact that a child's organ systems are still maturing may also create the possibility of more long term damage.
Unsupervised or irresponsible exposure to alcohol at a very young age may also make the child more likely to develop bad habits and become a problem drinker or even alcoholic.
Alcohol is so devastating that it affects all sides of the triangle of health; Physical, Social and Mental.
Alcohol affects the Physical element of a person's health because it is damaging to the internal organs. The liver is used to detoxify the bloodstream and remove dangerous substances in food. When you ingest something like milk, it causes no liver damage. However, when you continuously expose your body to alcohol, it's bad for your liver and kidneys, which both have a hand in 'cleaning' food. The liver is one of the most important organs in the digestive system, and the kidneys are some of the most important organs in the urinary system, so if they get damaged, it is universally very bad.
Mentally, alcohol is also bad. It negates from people's sense of judgement and reasoning. Basically, their ability to make decisions. Motor function skills are also affected, as I'm sure you know from the rate of car accidents instigated by drunk drivers.
Alcohol affects Social health too, but more indirectly. Family members don't like having a drunk at the Thanksgiving table. Friends don't like having a drunk guy at a funeral.
All in all, alcohol is bad, and the downsides from taking it are insurmountable.
Consuming alcohol in moderation does not harm a growing body. If it did, most Jews, Italians, Greeks, Spaniards and Portuguese would be suffering the consequences.
yes
When a pregnant woman drinks alcohol, so does her baby. Drinking may harm her developing baby. (Fetus) Alcohol passes from the mother's blood, into the babies blood. It can damage and affect the growth of the babies cells. Studies do not yet show that it is safe for a pregnant woman to drink even a small amount, as different babies react differently to even the tiniest bit of alcohol. Although the risk is higher with heavy alcohol use- any amount of alcohol may affect your developing baby. You may be able to prevent FASD (Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder) by not drinking at all when you are pregnant. Hope this helps. :)
Drinking any alcohol may be dangerous to your baby. There has been no 'safe' amount of alcohol identified that does not cause fetal alcohol syndrome.
yes. it can effect the baby
When a pregnant woman drinks alcohol there is a risk that the resulting baby will be born with a very serious and incurable condition called Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (or FAS) which will cause emotional problems, learning disability, and a predisposition toward alcoholism.
Drinking small amounts of alcohol have been proven to NOTbe harmful to an unborn baby....Just don't get trashed...
Hang on, WHAT?! I really hope you don't mean you gave your baby alcohol. Cause that would make you a pretty messed up mother.
Heavy drinking for a long period of time will increase the risk for miscarriage but most likely will the fetus get Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.
Yes it will effect the baby in many ways.
First you should put the bottle down before asking such a question...maybe you can spell correctly then! OF COURSE drinking alcohol can harm the baby. You should not be drinking at all. Everything you ingest the baby does as well. Please make sure everything that goes into your body is healthy and will help that precious baby grow strong and big.
No. But drinking alcohol can, if you decide to keep the baby, cause mental problems and birth defects in your child. You need some good medical advice.
No, you shouldn't drink any alcohol during pregnancy. Drinking alcohol, even in small amounts, can increase risk of birth defects or miscarriage - risks are higher in the first three months of pregnancy.
You may not lose your baby due to alcohol intoxication (no matter how much you drink). The warnings against drinking whilst pregnant are more to prevent a condition called Foetal Alcohol Syndrome - where the baby develops with a high level of alcohol in it's bloodstream, causing growth defects, birth defects (including heart/liver/lung conditions and other major health conditions) blindness, hearing impairments and learning disabilities (of what would have otherwise been a completely healthy child).
