Given that peanut butter does have a pretty hearty shelf life, you might as well buy another jar to have on hand, which will be good for another year or so.
Organic or not, it should last the same amount of time.
Answer:No. But then, it wasn't safe before it expired either. It wasn't safe the minute it was put into the jar. "Organic" foods are fertilized with manure. Manure contains E coli bacteria. E coli can make humans seriously sick when consumed, and can even kill people. In 2006, an E coli outbreak in 26 US states killed three people and made hundreds sick. The source of this outbreak? "Organic" spinach that was exposed to manure.Answer:
No. It is not safe to eat anything that has passed its 'best by date' or 'sell by date' ~ these are warnings for us so that we don't get sick with food poisoning. Some people may get away with this every once in a while, but it is NOT worth the risk as food poisoning is absolutely the pits. So please stick to the dates for your own health and throw it away. Rather be safe then sorry!
Most foods have a 3-7 grace period after the expiration date. It depends on if the jar has been opened or how long you have had it. If it has yet to be opened then you are probably safe. Just make sure it is not too old.
probably not.
But, why eat any peanut butter? P.B. is full of mold and fungus. I remember reading before organic valencia peanut butter is a much better option if you must eat it.
If it is a shelf-stable product, then your major concern would be flavor changes - like rancidity - not microbial growth.
