Will food in a refrigerator be good if the electricity was out for at least 14 hours? In: Health

Probably.. you need to keep your refrigerator closed though. It will keep the cool inside. I had to do this sitting through hurricane Rita last year.. Our power was out for at least a good 14 hours. We also put blocks of ice in the deep freezer in case the power went out longer. I can't give you an exact time but the four hour rule doesn't quite apply in a cool fridge.
Answer
NO. Sorry, but any food whether cooked or not will after approx. four hours of no refrigeration will have grown bacteria. Do not use ANY food left for such a long period of time, it will more than likely contain salmonella, botulisim and other bacterial contaminants. An exception obviously would be any canned or bottled juice, soda, etc that has not had seal broken/opened. Never use milk even if it is still sealed!
