No because the ports on a tbi head are different than the ports on a vortec head, vortec heads need a vortec intake however you can switch a carburated engine to a tbi engine because the heads are the same
First of all Chevy did not make a vortec engine in 1987 or 1995, those engines are TBI / Throttle body injection engines. And yes they will interchange with no problems.
In a 1996 Chevy 1500, 95 and prior were TBI motors till 87 and then the were carburated prior to 87.
thet are infact the same engine. all you have 2 do is eather do away with the tbi set up or change your intake and carb to the tbi intake and tbi
no, it is different, do not try to make it fit; 87-95 are the same and all pre-87 are the same
In 1987 the small block Chevy was revised for your '91 you need what is known as a "vortec" intake the head mating surfaces are milled at a different angle, and it has 4 bolts per side holding it down vs. 6 on the pre-'87 engines.
no, the bolt pattern on the small block Chevy intake manifold changed in '87 to the vortec head design, but if it doesnt have the centerbolt valve covers, then it will.
The 85 intake manifold won't work with the 90 heads, so you will need to purchase an aftermarket intake if you want to use a carburetor or use a 87 to 95 intake if you want to change over to TBI.
With an after market intake manifold or go 2 a bone yard and get an pre 87 sb intake and have the 4 center holes drilled straight down. earlier manifolds holes were drilled at an angel. If your vehical is a pre 87 then that's all u have 2 do. it would Be easy just to keep the TBI set up 87 or later. Better fuel millage.
Yes, but only if you use the original 87 heads, otherwise the bolt holes will not line up for the intake to the heads. Hope this helps
use your pre 87 unless you have rollers or the application calls for +5 or other.vortecs have rollers.
