The homeowners insurance would need notification.I would notify both cause actually both the renter and the owner can be at risk as far as liability. I would recommend increasing your liability limit to at least 300K if its not there already.

Which covers exactly what it says, the collapse of the above ground pool Check with your agent. The coverage is not cheap either. Here in Chicagoland, about 250 / year SJ I think ours is simply a rider policy. Ours is included in the hurricane coverage!
Your "Renter's Insurance" should be the one paying the claim. It is your responsibility as a tenant to report any property damage to the landlord, and at the same time it should have been reported to your insurance carrier. If, per chance, one does not have renters insurance (which escapes all understanding why one wouldn't have this) then the tenant is responsible for all damages above what is considered normal wear and tear.
