Will the United States go to war with Iran? |
Opinion
If there is political will, yes. The main factor to be considered is if Iran starts to trade in a different currency and also how threatening their presence becomes to Israel. If war does break out, it will be more Guerilla warfare.
Opinion
If war were to be declared, I think 2008 could be the year. A new administration may well take a different view of Iran's regional/global threat status. There are very many facts the current U.S administration needs to consider. If you compare Iran to Iraq, there are huge differences as you can see in population and total Area. Iran total Area: 1,648,195, km² Population: 70,472,846 (2006 est.) $610 billion (2006). Iraq total Area: 438,317 km² (2006 est.) Population: 26,783,383 GDP (2006) $89.8 Billion. Size isn't everything but attacking Iran is definitely not an easy option and cannot be attempted by a single agency. Fortunately at this time its all bluff, posturing, war games and political muscle being flexed by both sides. The current U.S administration is losing popularity twice as fast as any other Middle Eastern or communist country. So gaining support in the international arena will be extremely crucial if countering Iran's growing power in the region becomes necessary.
