Could be iron bacteria. Could also be the adhesive. We have yellow stains on our roll flooring from the installer using the wrong adhesive.

Installing A Shower Unit?

How to install a shower unitHomeowners who want to install a shower in their home can do the job themselves instead of having to pay someone to do it. Find the materials that you need to complete the shower. You will need the base for the shower, the shower door, fiberglass for the shower itself, and the attachments. Begin by building the base of the shower. Make the base tall enough to keep the water off the floor, but low enough so you can easily step over the edge to get in the shower. Construct the frame of the shower from the wood and then add the fiberglass to the wooden frame. Use caution when using fiberglass because you can get the small glass particles in your hands.Make a door frame that will house the shower door. When you finish with the frame, carefully slide the glass form the packaging into the frame. Use brackets to attach the hinges so that the door will open and shut. Make sure the door closes completely so no water leaks out of the shower. Install the plumbing attachments so you can take a shower as well as any extras you would like in the shower such as towel racks and containers for shampoo.

What are the advantages of buying an acrylic tub shower vs a fibreglass tub shower?

If you have city water (decent city water that is) a fiberglass unit with typical warranties of approx. 6 years, will do you just fine. Acrylic is best for places with well water and have typical warranties of about 10 years. The difference is that acrylic fiberglass is solid throughout, whereas what is known as a fiberglass unit has what is essentially a spray coating of acrylic on the surface. Thus the solid acrylic fiberglass units are "tougher" It is recommended for either unit to use something like car wax (on the walls ONLY, never the floor, unless you use non-slip mats) to protect the unit, at least once a month.
