In terms of Auto Liability...this depends....

1. Does the policy excluded unscheduled drivers? If so, no coverage for you.

2. Did you have permission to use the vehicle? If not, no coverage for you.

If the policy does not exclude unscheduled drivers, and you have permission to use the vehicle, the policy should afford coverage for incidents where you are the driver.

In terms of Medical Payments or other benefit to YOU as the driver....

1. Same questions as above, and more importantly...

2. Is Medical Payments and/or "PIP" coverage is provided on the policy? If no, no coverage for you.

If no Medical Payments and/or "PIP" coverage is provided on the policy, you would need to seek coverage under the Workers Compensation policy. If you are an Excluded Owner under that WC policy, there would be no coverage for you here either.

Remember, these answers are "general" in nature, and may not reflect the exact response from your insurer. I highly recommend contacting your agent for clarification of coverage.

Does a newly licenced driver under the age of 18 have to be listed as a driver with the insurance company or are they covered automaticly under the parents' policy?

They must be listed.

Does insurance cover a permitted driver?

You need to read your policy carefully and talk with your agent. A permitted driver is usually covered. However, if the driver lives with you and you don't have them listed, they are not covered. If they are a regular driver and are not listed, they are not covered. If they have a suspended or revoked license, or if they have no license, you are not covered. It is best not to allow others to drive your car under any circumstances. If they have an accident, it is on your insurance, and the company will add them to your policy even if they cover them.

Does a teenage driver have to be listed as the primary driver of one of the vehicles on the policy to be covered?

No. If he is listed at all, then he is covered. If he IS the primary driver of a vehicle, then he should be listed as such.

If someone with a learner's permit drives a car that is insured but the licensed driver in the car is not listed on the policy are they covered?

If everyone was legal, yes, a collision should be covered by the insurance company.

What if a driver with a suspended license wrecks your car and isn't a listed driver on your insurance?

That driver will need to have insurance. You need to call your local agent and ask him this question. You may or may not be covered, and may or may not be responsible for damages. You are truly on a slippery slope.

If you are listed as a friver you should be covered under his insurance which means you should be able to add your vehicle as wee.

Is any licensed driver automatically covered by your insurance policy if the car they are driving has coverage Even if they are not listed as a driver on the policy?

Generally yes, but you have to check your policy for specific limitations. Watch out though. In California at least, if a driver is not specifically listed on the insurance policy, the coverage drops to state minimums (15/30/5 in CA).

Will insurance cover if borrower doesnt have a drvers license?

If you are listed as a covered driver on the Insurance Policy then yes they will pay the claim whether you are licensed or not. Most Insurers will not offer you an auto insurance policy to begin with if you are not licensed but some will.

If you drive a friend's car alone and do not have insurance are you breaking the law if the friend has insurance and you have a license?

Unless the policy has a clause that says it is only insured for listed drivers, the insurance follows the car. If it is listed on your friend's policy, it is covered whenever a licensed driver is behind the wheel. This is assuming that you are only borrowing the car temporarily. If you are using it long-term your friend should have you listed as the primary driver on his policy.
