It is a possibility. Some babies seem to detect a change in the mother's milk if she gets pregnant. It is entirely possible, Not all babies will do this but many do. My oldest son weaned himself when I was near the end of my first trimester. I was shocked because he was an avid nurser. I spoke with several people trying to get him to continue nursing but the general opinion was that he was detecting a change in the taste that he didn't like.

Once your milk turns into colustrum around the 7 months your child may refuse to breast-feed anymore. It is perfectly safe for most women to breastfeed while pregnant. Don't let anyone tell you that it's not aside from your OB. The only thing to remember is to make sure you are getting sufficient nourishment for both. I did it until my oldest weaned (end of first trimester) and plenty of women nurse straight through pregnancy and tandem nuse both children. You can find support groups both on-line and in person for this. It is normal, healthy and safe.
