That is a good question.

For non-police type related work I would NOT wear the uniform as you stated correctly it would be very intimidating. Once can mention that you are also a trooper when the appropriate time comes.

If however, you are looking for police related work such as guard, supervisor of guards, or shopping center security manager or whatever, you may - but even there I would not.

Finally, I would also check with your Sate to make sure that you are not violating any implicit or explicit rules aout working for pricate industry and/or wearing uniform for non-State business.
