I do not believe he thinks in that level of stealing your soul, he is not interested in obtaining your soul as a trophy, I mean that is something others can not see, rather he is interested in your social standing in society if you are important and hold a higher level in society then certainly he must also. Heh. My narcissist ex is a writer. He pretty much stole everything about me that he found interesting (mannerisms, favorite words and expressions, personal habits and idiosyncracies, feminine traits and qualities, etc) and used these qualities to either add substance to his characters, or to add substance and form to his female pen-names' identities. The sad part is that from my point of view, the words and emotions he stole and used were heartfelt on my behalf. Especially my words and actions when I believed we were in love. But they were just fodder for him. Because narcissists can't understand human emotions, they can't successfully replicate them with any sort of ongoing success. And that's where I came in. I ended up being a supply source for not only him, but his characters and stories. And, of course, he used his writing to gain even more adulation and congratulatory praise. When couples have been together for awhile its only natural to pick up certain behaviours that each does, HOWEVER i have found that with abusive men, since they have no real solid identitiy they actually copy the victims behaviours. I noticed its like they admire and despise the victim. Many of my ex boyfreinds who have all been nut jobs, would copy certain facial expressions, energy, sayings, attitudes of mine.....i was invovled with a car salesman who was such a flake and would copy everything i did..he has no personality. I don't know about stealing my soul. I am a nurse. My ex actually went back to school after we divorced and got his nursing degree. Would you want a narcissistic person for a nurse- neither do his patients. I told him when I heard he had enrolled in nursing school I had no idea why he was doing it because he had absolutely no empathy for anyone else. He managed to get his nurse's license but the people around him don't like working with him because he has little tolerance for the sick.
