Hi,and No, not "All" some "hide on the drive where a reinstall will not effect them, however, if your going to go that far, you could reformat BEFORE you reinstall, that WILL kill all viruses.HTHBeSafeE Dragon

Yes,but first try the advice that follows here&you cant just reinstall, you have to reformat, wich only a computer guy can do for you-My PC has also been infected with the Funweb A virus and other viruse, that i could not detect or remove.I was running AVG free adition virus ware and it did not pick it up-I have tried every virus ware I could find, but no luck.I then went to www.webattack.com and found a way to remove it by doing the following-clicked on green link at the top of the page stating "FREEWARE",then clicked on virus tools/or you can search on that site for this program-"Avast home edition".It is the best freeware program, that i have ever used and removed the virus in no time. The Funweb A is a Trojan horse virus, and when Avast picked it up was goung under another name-i think that's why everybody have difficulty in removing it,and cant find anything under funwe A ,coz it is going under another name.Avast has also detected and removed 2 other virus infected files on my PC!It is important to do a live update of avast virus deff and to set program to run a full system scan.Do download the full free home adition and not just the computer cleaner. Its AMAZING and kicks budd! : )Thank you so much Avast!!!!Two programs going really well with Avast and also freeware on the same site is Ad-Aware spy detector and Zone Alarm firewall.I have all three and they work together like magic!: )GREAT STUFF!!!!Try it,you wont look back!

Formatting the hard drive and reinstalling will remove viruses. You might have to clean the boot sector on your hard drive too, if you caught one of so called boot sector viruses.

Does RAM upgrade require reinstalling windows?

No. Unless you are making major changes to your system's hardware, for example, replacing the hard drive, proccessor and motherboard at the same time, reinstalling the OS is not necessary. Sometimes even making major changes to the hardware will work ok without any reinstalling. The exception being if you replace the hard drive that contains the OS.

Can you put a hard drive that is running Windows XP into a computer that was running Windows Me?

As long as they use the same data connector, yes. However, you will likely not be able to use the hard drive, as Windows XP will not usually work when transferred to another computer, and Windows Me cannot read the NTFS file system. Reinstalling Windows XP or formatting the hard drive in Windows Me will resolve these respective issues.

How can you prevent someone from reinstalling windows on your laptop?

Find a computer where you can add a password in the bios. Doing so, you can setup your bios to boot from hard drive first before booting from the DVD drive. No windows install DVD will be able to re install windows since the hard drive will boot first. Then, in windows, setup you account as admin and add a password for it if there is no password. Setup a guest account for other windows users. That's it.
