At 35 weeks why would you want to hurry things along? You will birth a preemie with complications if you deliver now. It is unsafe to induce or encourage labor before 39 weeks unless you have specific medical complications that make continuing the pregnancy unsafe.

I would recommend not taking anything without talking to your doctor first. If they want to induce you, they will give you medicine in the hospital. One way to "naturally" induce yourself is to have intercourse (it works for some people!!).

Caster oil can be a VERY uncomfortable way to begin labor. It is a laxative with powerful capabilities. I myself have used it 2x (have 4 children) and it honestly never worked to get the babies out- just gave me the runs and major cramping. personally I would rather wait to birth, than wait to birth with diharrea.

Other ways to get things moving along can be sex (if you are comfortable to do it), spicy food, long gentle walks, meditating, rest, or massage.

You are close and I know at this point- you just want it all over. But soon enough- it will be.

Hand in there!

Why would you want to induce your labor? There is a very good reason that pregnancy lasts about 40 weeks -- your baby NEEDS every bit of that time to become healthy and strong. I've been there and understand your impatience but give your baby its best chance and let nature take its course. You won't be sorry!!!

Inducing before 39 weeks is dangerous for your baby, who would be born a preemie. Don't do it.

Im 34 weeks pregnant had the celestone for thebaby's lungs and baby weighs 5 pounds is it safe to take castor oil?

I don't see how it could be safe to take castor oil, isn't it a laxative? It could cause cramps, and induce labor..you should talk to you obgyn before taking anything.

Should you be dilated in order to take castor oil?

You should not take castor oil or anything that might cause labor. Every woman is tired of being pregnant by the 8th month and wants it to be over. Let nature take its course, if you are not dilated, it is probably not time for the baby to come. If the baby is premature it could have many problems. Nature/God designed pregnancy to last 40 weeks for many reasons, Labor should not be induced unless the pregnancy is endangering the mothers health, and then only by the doctor. Besides, chances are you will only have diarrhea, castor oil is ineffective at inducing labor.

Who should not take castor oil?

Castor oil should not be used by a pregnant woman, as it can cause contractions.

How much castor oil should you take to relieve constipation?

You don't! This is something that women used to do decades ago, but it can actually be harmful to the baby, and it doesn't work. If your doctor feels you are too far past your due date, he will either induce your labor, or he will do a C section. Please, don't try to self induce your labor on your own.

Can they induce at 39 weeks?

Normally they would only induce labour if they have suspected a problem with you or the baby these can be a range of problems. Or they would induce labour if you have had previous babies which have been too big to deliver and caused tearing. Therefore they may induce you early so you have a normal sized baby.

Where can you buy castor oil to induce your labor?

You should not induce labor. Only a qualified obstetrician is knowledgeable enough to be the one that jumpstarts the process. If your body isn't already in labour, there is a reason for this, probably because it isn't ready. Please don't take this into your own hands. Castor oil often just causes vomiting and diarrhea, which isn't something you want during labour. It is also proven not to be effective at inducing labour.

How fast does castor oil induce labor?

If you want to clean your colon take 2 table spoons of castor oil early in the morning (5am) and rest for 2 hours. At about 7am drink 2 glasses of warm water and rest again. Drink at least 1 glass of warm water every hour till you stool becomes like water. By about 1pm the process would have finished. Eat a very light meal of boiled vegetables and watery rice for the rest of the day.
