First, you should truly find out if that person does not love you. Sometimes people hide their own feelings in order to not get hurt. If you have already been through this and you know that the love you have is not equally felt, then you should move on. Once it's clear that the person does not feel the same way you do, it's ok to let go and move forward to someone that possibly could love you.
Exactly, people try to hide their feelings to someone until they are ready to confess, most of the time, people don't feel ready until years pass and that's because they wanna be sure that this certain person feels the same or at least is in the same path. There is always a way to know, though, the most common way is: when you look at this person and then he/she see you where looking at him/she, you turn around as if you werent attracted. One that could be hard to notice is that when this person see you, if they actually have a feeling for you, they will change their facial expression, maybe in an unnoticeable way, but there is always a change, its the same as when you lie, you usually give out a different and more worried look.
