You have skied for 8 years and compete in slalom and giant slalom events although you can only afford one new pair of skiss Which should you rather purchase?

Two ways to approach this.

One is to decide which discipline you are better skilled in, and buy skis for that discipline. You will likely excel in that, while giving away some time in the other. If you do pick one, you then might spend the offseason sorting through ebay and online forums, and look for a used pair to run in your secondary discipline.

The other approach is to purchase a GS ski with slightly shorter length. It will give you better speed on the GS course than a slalom ski, yet you can still muscle a GS ski through a slalom course.

Again, if you do buy just one type, hit some ski swaps early in the season. Also, look for swap pages on ski racing websites.
