Better to park your car 20 feet away from the Fire Hydrant System because it is an emergency system. Anytime we need to keep it ready for use.
Added: Once again, as it is with most traffic regulations, it depends on what jurisdiction you live in. Some locales specify a distance of 25 feet from a fire hydrant.
As a general rule it is best to assume that you should leave at least one car's length of distance on either side of the fire hydrant to be safe.

It probably varies by local ordnance from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. In the city where I began my career as a beat cop it was 20 feet either side of the hydrant.
