It may be possible to recover the files, but it depends on the type of camera, how you deleted them what you have done since. There are programs which can undelete files from memory cards, since deleting basically removes the filename from a table and the file still exists until the space is needed for new pictures. The chances improve if you haven't done a full format, taken many more pictures or saved much other information to the memory card. The original filename may not be readable and a new name may be created. This is true at least for memory cards which can be connected to a card reader on a computer. I am not certain about cameras with memory which is not removable, or which require custom software to transfer the pictures. Also the recovered files need to be saved to somewhere other than the card you have erased, so you don't over-write some deleted pictures while recovering others. The software will usually help you with those choices. This question underscores a critical difference between film and digital Photography. The plus with digital images is that they don't scratch or fade. But since you have no negatives which you can re-scan. It is essential to keep backups of important images. The first step should always be to copy the pictures from camera or memory card to your PC - rather than move them. Once in the PC, write protect them. Then backup the copies to another drive before deleting them from the camera or card. This way, you always have two copies - and preferably one copy (on CD or DVD) can be kept in a fireproof containier, in a bank deposit box or with a relative. Good hunting.
