That shard of glass would travel through your oesophagus, stomach, approx. 8.5 metres of small & large intestine, through the colon and out the rectum. A pretty painful process. Depending on the size/shape/luck of the glass, you could also cause an internal tear and internal bleeding. The tear could be hard to diagnose. You'd probably also have to have exploratory surgery to locate the perforation (I hope for your sake it's not near the colon!), then have it fixed up (assuming they could find it), then spend a while in hospital and pay a mega-load of hospital bills.
So, I'd recommend not swallowing glass.. For your own safety.
That being said, if you already have swallowed glass, get yourself to the hospital, tell the ER doc what you've done and how long ago you did it. The faster they find it, the more likely it is that you'll get away with not too much damage.
Most common plastics are not toxic and will pass through the digestive tract with little or no effect.
If you are concerned about a particular plastic that you have swallowed, see a medical practitioner, or call a health hotline if there is one in your area.
Once the glass is swallowed there is really nothing you can do other than to allow it to pass through your alimentary canal and be eliminated in a bowel movement. You might benefit by eating a large meal, both to help move the digestive process along, and to possibly provide some cushioning for the glass. You may wind up with some internal cuts or scratches, but they will probably heal. If things go badly, you might need an antibiotic treatment. But wait and see.
If you swallowed a peace of glass, you should go to an Emergency Room, because there is a chance that the glass will start damaging your organs, and you don't want that. So just to be safe, it's always a good idea. See a doctor. Immediately.
depends what object. if it is something like marble, it will just come out when you go to the toilet but if it's something much bigger it probably is quite dangerous x
The glass will cut up your eye from the inside and could result in permanent blindness
It can cause very serious harm to your lungs.
Call 911 immediately, or get yourself to the emergency room, if that seems quicker.
