I was told that if your child has a fever of 104 for 4 consecutive hours while using fever reducer medication (tylenol/motrin) and the meds are not bringing it down then you should take them to the er. My 6 yr old has a fever of 103.6 and the meds reduce it. Just keep your child loaded with fluids so they don't get dehydrated. More then likely he has a viral infection and there's nothing their going to be able to do. If he becomes lethargic and unresponsive take him asap, other than that he should be fine. Fevers can lady up to 5 days. If it lasts any longer take him to your pediatrition. If its driving you crazy, I get frantic about fevers as well, dont hesitate to call your pediatrition. Good luck. I always give my son powerade zeros.
It is better to take the child to the hospital. A temperature of 102 should not be taken lightly.
Yes I would take your child to the hospital to get checked over for problems that could arise from the flu.
That is dangerously high ! They should be taken to the accident & emergency department immediately !
