Your car door latch could be either frozen if your in a cold climate or just turned into the latched position. With car door open lift handle to free latch. Now turn latch ( a curved metal assembly with a spring ) to the open position. You will know it is positioned rite when you can see the opening in this curved assembly. Now close door as usual. If assembly is frozen, you may have to repeat this proceedure several times or apply some heat , possably a hair dryer to latch mechanism to free it up. Hope this was helpful Bill in upstate NY
sounds like a bad door latch mechanism.
Fod product? Spray the door latch assembly liberally with WD-40, operate the door a few times then spray with a silicone spray
Go in from another door and open it from the inside.
Access in rear door panel, allows you to lock/inlock rear door.
Can't tell without seeing your problem but, most problems with doors start with worn out door hinge pins and bushings. Letting the hinge pins and bushings wear out leads to damaged door latches and strikers.
