WHENEVER the check engine light comes on, ALWAYS connect a code scanner to figure out why. The light is on to tell you that the computer has detected a "fault" and it wants to tell you all about it.
When the engine light comes on and the car shakes at the same time, it could be the spark plugs or ignition coils are faulty. Misfiring is causing the car to shake.

Have the wheels balanced I would check tire balance and check for warped rotors. Check tires for blisters and check the steering linkage for worn parts. Check the shocks and the engine to see if it is not firing all cylinders.
Start checking out your engine and transmission mounts. Check the rubber to make sure it isn't torn.
